Description & Rules of Operation

The Riverside Aquatics Complex includes four swimming pools: two 25-meter pools (5’ depth or less), a wading pool for infants and toddlers, and a diving pool with a 1.5 meter dive board and 2 water powered slides. The bathhouse is equipped with restrooms and showers. Cool off from the hot summer sun sliding down our water powered, double loop spiral slides!

Children nine years of age and younger must be accompanied by an eligible adult patron age 18 or older. Children ages 10-15 must be accompanied by an eligible patron age 16 or older.  Patrons age 16 or older may use the pool unaccompanied after successfully completing and passing the Navy SPLASH test.

In accordance with the CNIC MWR Fitness/Aquatics SPLASH program, all individuals under the age of 18 are required to pass a swim test in order to utilize any pool with water over their head,  the diving board or slides.  The Aquatic team administers this test throughout the day.  If an individual fails to pass the swim test they will not be allowed to utilize the pools that exceed their height, diving board or slides.  They may retake the swim test on the next business day.

Lifeguards are on duty during operation. U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation devices (PFDs) are permitted.  We have a limited inventory but loan approved PFDs on a first-come, first-served basis based upon availability.    

In accordance with the CNIC MWR Fitness/Aquatics SPLASH program, all individuals who are considered nonswimmers or are wearing a USCG flotation device must be under the direct supervision of an adult (18 and older) at all times.  The individual providing the supervision of the non-swimmer/individual in a USCG flotation device, must be in the water and within arm's reach of them at all times.

For the safety and wellbeing of our team and guests alike, there will be a 10-minute swim break every hour in extreme weather conditions:  Red or Black Flag status based on temperature/heat index and humidity conditions, 90 degrees or hotter.

In the event of adverse weather conditions the water will be cleared at the pool and beach. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Air or water temperatures that present potential hypothermic conditions
  • Thunder/lightning storms
  • Rainfall that obscures the ability for the staff to clearly see the bottom of the pools

 

Facilities may also secure operation completely for the day due to weather conditions.  Refunds are not issued due to weather closures.

Eating is permitted in designated areas, but no alcohol or glass containers are permitted. If you are in need of light snacks or refreshments, the Riverside Refreshments concession stand is open from noon-6 PM during pool operation. The refreshment stand is subject to operation based on weather conditions. The Riverside Refreshment Stand is a 100% cashless operation.

 

Pool Passes

Summer pool passes are available as a monthly or seasonal option and can be purchased at the Adventure Zone. Daily admission is collected at the Riverside Pool Office.

NRC Solomons is a 100% cashless operation and accepts:

 All Active Duty Military and their immediate family members (dependents) are free of charge for daily pool admission.

Navy Youth Swim License Eligibility

To attain full access to the Aquatics facility, all youth ages 17 and under must successfully pass the Navy Youth Swim Test. The test can only be administered with the completion of the swim test release form and endorsed by the guardian of the minor taking the test. Upon completion of the swim test, the patron will be required to wear a wristband. 

If an individual fails to pass the swim test they will not be allowed to utilize the pools that exceed their height, diving board or slides, MWR boat rentals or remain at the facility unsupervised. The test can only be administered to the individual once a day. If they are unable to pass the skills test, they may retake the swim test on the next business day.

 

Pool Parties

Why not have your next party at the pool? Reservations are required a minimum of 10 days in advance. The standard party fee covers the use of the facility for up to 75 guests for 2 hours. Interested in extending or having a few additional guests? Parties may be extended for an extra hour or host an additional 25 guests for a minimal fee. Please note that pool parties are not available on holidays or holiday weekends.  

Reservations are required and can be made at the Aquatics Complex during regular hours of operation. A guest list is required 72 hours prior to the event.

Adult Fitness Swim  

Available to age 18 year and older Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to noon. Fitness swim is free to active duty, reserve and retired military persons. The fee for all other personnel is the regular Aquatics Complex admission price. Active duty who are interested in Fitness Swimming outside of the designated timeframe are eligible at no cost
